Introduction

 

Hull Collegiate School is a co-educational independent school in Anlaby, near Hull, in the East Riding of Yorkshire. It was founded in 2005 as a result of a merger of two of the area’s independent schools.

 

The curriculum comprises art, computing, drama, English, food technology, geography, history, Latin, mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages, music, physical education, religious studies, science and PSHE.

 

Beyond the classroom, pupils enjoy activities which extend their abilities in music and sports and frequently partake in clubs such as Chess, Discovery club, Debating club, Puzzle club, Circus club and Environmental club, as well as Language Club, Sewing, Story, Fantasy, Football, Computer and Photography clubs.

Open Events for Hull Collegiate School 11 Plus (11+) Entry

 

Individual visits can be arranged throughout the school year at a time convenient for you. They include a tour during which you will meet staff and pupils. You can book your visit by reaching out to the Admissions Team.

 

The whole school open events are held March and October. They include a pupil led tour and offer the opportunity to talk to members of the leadership team and pupils. 

 

Personal tours can also be arranged (via the Admissions Office).

 

School in Action Days take place on a normal school day and allow you and your child to sit in lessons and meet the Headmistress and senior staff. They are held every term. 

 

Taster Days form part of the admissions procedure. uring these events, your child will be paired with a current pupil for the day and will follow their timetable, thus experiencing the same academic lessons. If you would like your child to have a taster day, please contact Admissions.

Hull Collegiate School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

 

Your child should ideally be registered for admission at least a full calendar year preceding the desired date of admission.

 

You can register by completing the UK registration form that is included with the admissions pack. The registration fee is £25. To receive an admissions pack, you will be expected to complete the prospectus form which can be found on the school’s website.

 

Your child will be sitting an entrance assessment in January. A report from their current school will also be requested.

 

Offers are made based on performance in the examinations. However, if your child falls slightly short of the above criteria, a place may still be offered following an informal interview, at the discretion of the Headmistress.

 

Acceptance of a place comprises the payment of a refundable deposit (£100) and the return of the School’s Form of Acceptance. This document is the primary contract with the school and you will be expected to agree to the financial obligations regarding notice and withdrawal. Your child cannot be admitted until this process is completed.

 

Pupils sitting the entrance examination will be automatically considered for an Academic scholarship, which is reviewed annually since the continuity of a scholarship is dependent on your child’s effort and attainment.

 

Assisted Places are means tested and can cover up to 85% of tuition fees. They are awarded on the basis of both academic ability and financial need. Applications need to be submitted in December.

 

The school also offers a sibling discount of 5% for the second child and 10% for the third and subsequent siblings. Fees are discounted for siblings who attend the school at the same time.
