Introduction
Highsted Grammar School is a selective grammar school for girls in Sittingbourne, Kent. Rated as ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED, it was established in 1904 and converted to an academy in 2011. [1]
A specialist science school, Highsted Grammar provides students with a broad range of National Curriculum subjects, including English, mathematics, science, computing, history, geography, MFL, art & design, DT, drama, music, PE, RE and PSHCEE.
Girls also benefit from an extremely rich and diverse range of opportunities, maximising their potential through sporting and artistic pursuits and expeditions to far-off destinations such as Iceland. Numerous charity events and fundraising activities take place throughout the year, boosting girls’ organisational skills and grounding them in empathy. [2]
Respectful of the school’s motto To be, rather than to seem, girls progress through their educational journey as high achievers without losing their creativity or sense of aesthetics in the process. As a result, they leave school equipped with leadership skills and a deep understanding of the needs and demands of the rapidly changing world outside the school’s gates.
Highsted Grammar School In-Year Entry (12 Plus & 13 Plus) Casual Admissions Information
Highsted Grammar School standard entry point is 11 Plus. However, the school also accepts applications from pupils interested in Casual Admissions (Late Entry). To assess pupils for late transfer, Highsted Grammar School administers written papers for Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, along with assessments for Maths, English or Science.
These tests will be taken at Highsted Grammar School. If you wish your child to be considered for the assessments, you should apply to the Local Authority using the ‘Casual Application Form’.

- Children in receipt of Pupil Premium.
- Children whose siblings attend the school.
- Children who live closest to the school.
*The straight-line distance is measured between the applicant’s permanent home address and the school, using the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) address point data.
