Highclare School is an independent, co-educational day school in the West Midlands. Founded in 1932, the school occupies three sites in the Birmingham area.
The Year 7 curriculum covers art, design technology, drama, English, MFL, geography, food & nutrition, history, ICT & computing, mathematics, music, physical education, PSCHE, science and religious studies.

Highclare School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
Year 7 entry is subject to results in assessments (held in November), interview (with the Head of Senior School) and the quality of the report and reference from your child’s current school. The registration fee is £75. To secure your child’s place at the school, you will be expected to pay a deposit of £350, which will be refunded in their final term.
At 11+, Highclare School offers Scholarships, which are awarded at the discretion of the Head on the basis of performance in assessments/auditions and interview, as well as a satisfactory reference from your child’s current school. Application forms for the 11+ Assessment and Scholarships are provided by the Admissions Team upon request.
The school awards Academic scholarships to pupils who perform exceptionally well in the 11+ Entrance Assessment and who demonstrate a potential to contribute to the school community. The school also rewards pupils who excel in the fields of music, sport or art. Assessments for these scholarships include a short audition.
All scholarships are reviewed annually.
The Highclare School Governors’ Prize is a means-tested bursary award which covers up to 100% of school fees and rewards a child who demonstrates outstanding academic potential. The HSGP will be valid for the duration of your child’s education in the Senior School.

The Highclare School 11+ entrance examination consists of the following papers:
- Non-Verbal Reasoning
The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
The maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper will include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning test measures their ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, assessing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
