Harrogate Ladies’ College 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

If you wish your daughter to enter Year 7 at Harrogate Ladies’ College, you should apply by the beginning of December prior to the year of entry.

She will then be invited to take the 11+ Entrance Test in mid-January, followed by an interview with a senior member of staff. The school will request a reference from your daughter’s current school prior to the examinations. Offers of places are sent out in late January or early February.

The school awards Scholarships in the fields of Academics, Sport, Music, Drama, Textiles, Choral Singing and Art. If you wish to apply for a Scholarship, you should do so at the time of applying for a place. After completing the standard Entrance Assessment, your daughter will undertake specific scholarship assessments, which vary depending on the type you are applying for.

Being a scholar has many benefits, including a discount on day fees of up to 15%, participation in a rich programme of scholars’ events and mentoring by a teacher or senior scholar.

The College Scholar Programme is a means tested award for pupils from the North Yorkshire area who demonstrate exceptional academic ability and qualify for 100% means tested bursary support. The award carries a fee remission of 110% on day or boarding fees.

Aside from this award, the school offers means-tested bursaries, with a value up to 100% of school fees. The school determines the level of financial assistance on the basis of the information submitted in the Means Tested Bursary Application form and the supporting documentation. The evaluation process includes a home visit, conducted by an independent financial assessor.

Bursary awards will be confirmed along with the offer of a place. For more information, please contact the school’s Finance Director.
