Introduction
Guildford High School is an independent day school for girls in Guildford. Founded in 1888 by the Church Schools Company, the school educates around 1000 girls. [1]
The curriculum challenges and stimulates girls in the following subject areas: maths, English, science, art, music, Mandarin, MFL, PE and computer science.
Over 90 extracurricular clubs are on offer, ranging from fencing, percussion, ballet and yoga to LAMDA, film club, chess and taekwondo. Residential trips are organised on a regular basis, enabling girls to develop firm and lasting friendships and grow in independence.
Within the pastoral care programme, the school hosts the annual Wellbeing Week, during which girls can participate in engaging events and gain a better understanding of the challenges they may face throughout their formative years. In line with their consistent dedication to helping girls mature into physically and emotionally healthy adults, Guildford High School have recently received an award for ‘Best School for Pastoral Care’ from The Week magazine.
The school’s provision of inspiring, first-class education ensures that girls acquire strong academic abilities and character. The environment of openness, safety and security, firmly grounded in mutual respect, trust and kindness, produces happy and fulfilled individuals who proceed to use their gifts and talents for the benefit of their wider communities.
