Gresham’s School is an independent co-educational boarding school in Holt, Norfolk. Founded in 1555 by Sir John Gresham, Gresham’s School is one of the top 30 International Baccalaureate schools in England.
The curriculum comprises the traditional academic subjects: English, mathematics, science, geography, history, religious studies, modern foreign languages and ICT.
The Activities Programme covers a number of co-curricular activities which help build confidence and self-belief amongst pupils, enabling them to develop lifelong skills and interests.
The sports activities include everything from football and tennis to taekwondo and fencing, whilst activities for the creative-minded range from making mosaics to design technology projects, dance and drama.

Open Events for Gresham’s School 11 Plus (11+) Entry
The school hosts two Open Mornings each year, one in the spring and one in the autumn term. They provide an ideal opportunity for families to view facilities and meet pupils and staff.
The next Open Morning is set in May. You can book a spot via a booking form on the school’s website.
It is also recommended that you visit the school on a normal working day in order to meet the Head and staff members and ask questions on behalf of your child.

Gresham’s School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
Following your visit to the school, the next step is to apply for a place. To register your child, you will be expected to pay a £170 registration fee. Once the school receives your application, a confidential reference from your child’s current school will be requested. They will then be invited to take part in an assessment.
Assessment days will be held in January and your child will be tested for a scholarship on the same day.
Gresham’s School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
Academic Scholarships are worth up to 50% of the fees, whilst Art, Drama and Performing Arts, Music and Sport Scholarships are worth up to 10% of the fees. All scholarships may be supplemented by a means-tested bursary.

Gresham’s School 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format
The Gresham’s School’s entrance assessment consists of the following papers:
- Verbal Reasoning
- Non Verbal Reasoning
The English paper examines comprehension and writing skills, whilst the maths paper tests problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills.
The Verbal Reasoning paper is primarily designed to test and assess your child’s logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary. The Non-Verbal Reasoning paper is designed to measure their ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
The papers consist of a series of questions, which are designed to test your child’s ability to use and apply their knowledge in the mentioned subjects.
