Introduction
Godolphin School is an independent boarding and day school for girls located in Salisbury, Wiltshire. It was founded in 1726 by the Hon. Charles Godolphin and his wife, Elizabeth for the purpose of educating eight orphaned girls.
The school’s well-rounded currciulum is accomplished via the provision of lessons in art, craft & design, biology, chemistry, Classics, computer science, drama, DT, English, history, food & nutrition, geography, maths, MFL, music, PE, physics, RS and science.
The many activities beyond the classroom range from academic societies to the Combined Cadet Force. Zumba, Leith’s School of Cookery, Debating, the Book Club and the popular Duke of Edinburgh Award provide girls with the opportunity to extend their skills, passions and talents.
The school was declared the best Southwest Independent Secondary School of the Year 2019 by the Sunday Times, which is a testament to how confident and motivated girls at Godolphin are to do their best academically.

Open Events for Godolphin School 11 Plus (11+) Entry
Godolphin School hosts a number of Snapshot Mornings across the year. Up to ten families can visit the school on a normal day, during which they will see the school in action via a tour that ends with an informal Q&A session with the Head and Senior Management Team members.

Godolphin School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
Godolphin admits candidates through the Assessment and Scholarship process, administered in accordance with the HMC guidelines.
During your visit to the school, or upon your request, you will be provided with a registration form, to be returned to the Head of Admissions together with a copy of your daughter’s birth certificate and a non-refundable registration fee of £100. In this way, your daughter will be placed on the list for the proposed year of entry.
To receive an official offer of a place, she will be expected to meet the school’s standard in the entrance examinations and interview. Offers are posted within two weeks of the examinations.
At this stage, you should complete and return a form of acceptance, together with a non-refundable acceptance fee of £500. There will also be an additional fee of £1000, refunded during your daughter’s first term at Godolphin.
Godolphin School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
The school offers means tested bursaries, for which you will be asked to complete a Confidential Statement of Financial Services form. An independent company, Bursary Administration Ltd (BAL), reviews and assesses bursary applications.
Six Foundation Bursaries, each worth 70% of the full (boarding) fees, are available to girls in need due to family circumstances such as a death in the family or divorce. The Old Godolphin Bursary is awarded to the daughter of an Old Godolphin pupil.

Godolphin School 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format
The entrance assessment for candidates applying to join Year 7 (11+) consists of two papers:
- English
- Mathematics
The English paper examines comprehension and writing skills, whilst the maths paper tests problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills.
The papers consist of a series of questions, which are designed to test your child’s ability to use and apply their knowledge in both subjects.
