Giggleswick School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

Giggleswick School will consider an application if it’s determined that the child has capacity to benefit from the balanced and well-rounded education, and is able to make a positive contribution to the school’s community. Giggleswick is not an academically selective school, however it normally requires that children complete an Entrance examination in order to formally assess and identify their ability and potential.

Following the school visit, you should complete and return a Registration Form, accompanied by a £150 registration fee.

Pupils entering Year 7 will sit an Entrance examination in January or February of the school year prior to entry. Then follows an interview with the Headmaster who will assess the child based on a discussion about their interests and hobbies. The school will also request copies of the child’s last two school reports and a current-school reference.

After all reports, tests and interviews are completed and reviewed, an offer of a place may be made. To secure the place, you will be expected to pay an entry deposit of £500. This amount is refunded, minus any accrued sundries, at the end of your child’s stay at Giggleswick.

At Giggleswick, approximately 20 to 25 scholarship awards are available each year. Academic, All-Rounder, Music and Sport scholarships are available for Year 7. For more information about the scholarships, please visit the Giggleswick School website.

Bursaries are awarded in accordance with the Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA). CEA is offered to assist Service families and secure the education for their children which would otherwise be denied due to the movement of their family. For more information about the bursary process, please visit the Giggleswick School website.
