Introduction

Founded in 1512, Giggleswick School is a renowned independent co-educational day and boarding school in Giggleswick, near Settle, North Yorkshire. Its founder, James Carr, was a chantry priest, who established the school using his own resources, marking the beginning of its long-standing educational legacy. Giggleswick’s alumni list is long and impressive, including esteemed politicians, successful entrepreneurs and notable university professors. [1]

The school’s curriculum is designed to enable each student to identify and develop their talents. It encompasses core academic subjects, augmented with modern foreign languages, design technology, ICT, religious education, the arts and PSHE, among other subject options. Class sizes are small, enabling staff to individually address pupils’ needs for intellectual exploration across all phases of their education.

Giggleswick School is committed to discovering and nurturing the unique strengths of its pupils through an extensive co-curricular programme known as CASE. Offering a diverse array of activities, such as sewing, rock group, orchestra, cooking, crafts, taekwondo, tennis, swimming and astronomy, the CASE programme’s offerings help pupils develop social and teamwork skills, as well as the initiative to contribute to their communities. [2]

Dedicated to delivering exceptional education that fosters character development, Giggleswick School presents pupils with numerous opportunities for success, making them confident and ambitious, both during their school years and in their future endeavours. Challenging, inspiring and creating memorable experiences for its cohort, Giggleswick shapes students into pragmatic individuals, who access further education with an awareness of the real-world consequences of their actions.
