Frensham Heights School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school located in Farnham, Surrey. It is run by the registered charity Frensham Heights Educational Trust Ltd. Established in 1925, Frensham played a major role in the movement for progressive education by being a coeducational day and boarding school since its foundation.
The broad curriculum includes science, English, maths, PE/games, history, geography, Modern Foreign Languages, computing, religious education, dance, drama, music and art. Activities outside the classroom include cricket, tennis, rounders, football, hockey, swimming, athletics and netball, as well as several alternative sports like karate, fencing and parkour.
Pupils also take on the challenges of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, which provides them with the freedom to explore, investigate and experience, further supported by a number of residential and day trips to places like Polzeath, the French Alps, Barbados and visits to Frensham’s partner school in Malawi.
All of this and more enables Frensham pupils to operate in full alignment with the school’s motto Think, Create, Explore, whilst growing into curious and self-aware adults who have the capacity to ignite positive change in society.

Open Events for Frensham Heights School 11 Plus (11+) Entry
Visiting will provide you with the opportunity to see the school in action and get a taste of life on campus. Open events include Open Mornings, during which you will meet teaching staff members and students, and tour the facilities as well. You can book your place using the form on the school’s website.

Frensham Heights School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
Following the visit to the school, you should proceed to register your child as soon as possible. The 11+ assessment takes place in January.
The registration fee is £100 (non-refundable). Entry is not just based on exam results, but the child’s overall interests and personality, as well as their capacity to fully contribute to the life of the school.
The assessment process includes a group interview with the Head, which takes place a week before the Assessment Day. Note that if the dates don’t suit you, assessments and interview can be rescheduled at a mutually convenient time.
Usually, all papers are marked and offers are made within a couple of weeks. You will receive one of the following responses:
- Guaranteed offer – must be accepted by the first Monday in March
- Waiting list offer – your child will be offered a guaranteed place as soon as a place becomes available
- Offer to retest (for pre-test candidates only)
- Regret – statement that Frensham is not quite the right fit for your child.
The school offers Honorary Scholarships for academics, music, art, dance, drama and sport. They have no monetary value but they recognise and celebrate excellence.

The Frensham Heights School’s 11+ examinations consist of the following papers:
- English (reading comprehension, spelling and creative writing)
- Non-Verbal Reasoning
- Verbal Reasoning
The English papers aim to evaluate your child’s reading, comprehension and writing skills. The maths paper is designed to examine your child’s skills in problem-solving and arithmetic.
The Verbal Reasoning paper is primarily designed to test and assess your child’s logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary. The Non-Verbal Reasoning paper is designed to measure their ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
