Introduction

Durston House School is an independent preparatory school for boys in Ealing, London. It is among London’s leading prep schools and is a noted feeder school of Merchant Taylors’, John Lyon, Hampton and St Paul’s School. [1]

In line with the school’s strong academic achievements, the curriculum is broad and challenging, including a number of subject areas such as art, computer science, English, French, geography, history, Latin, mathematics, music, PE, PSHME, RS and science.

After lessons, boys get to participate in a wide selection of engaging activities, ranging from cooking, philosophy and chess to yoga, engineering and debating. Complementing the diverse academic and enrichment programme, Duston House offers a number of facilities, including two large playing fields (both equipped with large pavilions), new specialist art rooms and cutting-edge science laboratories.

Staff at Durston House considers it their responsibility to educate pupils in the broadest sense possible, instilling in them an understanding that everything in life is a lesson and that life has much to teach them. The three concepts, Character, Curiosity and Capability, are central to the school’s philosophy, enabling boys to question, take risks and explore their creativity, grounded in humility and silent determination.
