Introduction
Derby Grammar School is an independent school for boys in Littleover near the city of Derby. Refounded as a reincarnation of Derby School in 1995, the school occupies Rykneld Hall, a Grade II listed 18th century country house.
The Year 7 curriculum covers the following subjects: art, biology, chemistry, design technology, English, MFL, geography, history, computing, Latin, mathematics, music, PSHE, physical education & games, physics and religious studies.
Within the co-curricular programme, clubs and activities range from Choir, Film Club, Guitar Ensemble and Hockey, to Street Dance, Rugby, Science and Yoga.
Encouraging independent thought, expression and learning, the school allows pupils to flourish within an environment that provides intellectual challenges and celebrates success. Open Events for Derby Grammar School 11 Plus (11+) Entry
The school holds open events throughout the year. They include presentations, demonstrations and guided tours, as well as meetings with the Head, teachers, pupils, parents and governors of Derby Grammar School.

Derby Grammar School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
After the visit, if you still wish your son to attend Derby Grammar School, you should complete the registration form and pay the fee of £70, which is non-refundable.
Admission is subject to successful performance in the entrance assessments and interview, as well as a satisfactory report from your son’s current school. Entrance and scholarship assessments usually take place in January of Year 6.
To accept an offer of a place, you will be expected to pay an admission deposit of £500. This will be refunded to you during your child’s last term at Derby Grammar.
Derby Grammar School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
The school awards scholarships in the following areas: Academic ability, Music, Sports, Creative Arts and Design & Technology. Results from the Scholarship assessments are communicated in late January of the calendar year of entry.
The school’s bursary scheme enables entry for pupils from all backgrounds. Bursaries are means-tested and, if you are interested in applying, you should indicate that in the registration form.
You will then receive a Bursary Application Form which takes into account your financial circumstances, including assets and investments. Please note that the evaluation process may include a home visit, typically conducted by an independent company.
