Introduction
Caterham School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school located in Caterham, Surrey. The Prep School is located at the far end of its 200 acre campus, surrounded by its own woodland. [1] [2]
The curriculum at the Prep School is both challenging and engaging, delivered through carefully designed schemes in order to encourage enjoyment and passion for learning.
Further developing pupils’ abilities, the school provides them with an array of co-curricular pursuits in the areas of sports, arts and beyond, including science club, athletics, taekwondo, lacrosse, chess and gardening.
Caterham’s popular outdoor learning programme is delivered in the school’s woodland ‘Old Park Woods’, allowing children to leave school with high levels of environmental consciousness.
According to the ISI inspectors who recently conducted an evaluation of Caterham Prep, ‘pupils’ skills, knowledge and understanding are excellent in all areas’ and they progress through the school with the ability to work well both ‘independently and collaboratively’. [3]

Caterham Prep 7 Plus (7+) Admissions
Your child will be considered as a candidate for admission and entry to the school once you’ve completed and submitted the Application Form together with the non-refundable fee.
They will then be invited to attend an assessment day and be tested in English and Maths. The school will also take into consideration the quality of the reference from your child’s current school.
To formally accept an offer of a place, you will be asked to complete an acceptance form and pay a deposit.

The Caterham Prep 7 Plus (7+) exam consists of the following assessments:
- English
- Mathematics
The English exam tests comprehension and writing skills, including inference, punctuation and grammar, as well as the fluency of your child’s reading and oral skills.
The Maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills, including their knowledge of times tables.
