Introduction
Bromsgrove School is a co-educational independent day and boarding school in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. Founded in 1553, Bromsgrove School is one of the oldest public schools in the UK and is one of the 14 founding members of the Headmaster’s Conference.
Set on 100 acres of land, the main campus occupies the heart of the town of Bromsgrove, expanding overseas via a boarding school in Bangkok and a school in Shenzhen, China.
Bromsgrove School is noted as an ancient institution that is simultaneously a modern educational force, providing children with a curriculum that successfully balances academic rigour with nurture and stimulation. Besides the core subjects, pupils in Year 7 learn geography, history, art, drama, Latin, music, PE, and modern foreign languages (French, German or Spanish).
The Preparatory School’s impressive grounds offer the perfect conditions for outstanding sports, music and arts provision. Learning at least one instrument, playing in the orchestra or ensemble groups, or singing in the choir, as well as taking part in informal and formal concerts are just a few of the activities on offer. Drama productions, both small and large, regularly involve many Bromsgrove School pupils.
Holiday Clubs at Bromsgrove host a range of activities to keep children busy during the school holidays. From residential stays for international students to day camps for local children, the school ensures that even children who are not enrolled are provided with the opportunity to experience life on Bromsgrove’s campus.
The school’s PSHE programme works in conjunction with the School Medical Centre, enabling pupils to access a sophisticated and fully confidential independent counselling service. Houseparents and tutors complement the extensive Pastoral care, which, through small tutor groups, fosters warm and open relationships, as well as transparency.
Through such programmes, coupled with an all-around education, children tend to develop and reach maturity as happy, creative and moral citizens who live fulfilled lives whilst enriching the lives of others.
Bromsgrove School fosters humility, confidence, compassion, ambition, respect, curiosity, tolerance and vision as its core values within a thriving community of staff and pupils that live by the motto Deo, regi, vicino (For God, for King, for Neighbour).
