Introduction
Bishop’s Stortford College is an independent, co-ed, boarding and day school in Hertfordshire. Founded by a group of prominent East Anglian Nonconformists in 1868, the school occupies a 130-acre campus on the edge of the market town of Bishop’s Stortford. [1]
The curriculum in the Prep School is designed to be both challenging and stimulating. Pupils study art, DT, drama, English, geography, history, ICT/computing, Latin, mathematics, MFL, music, PE, religious education and science.
The most recent ISI report for the school states that the varied range of opportunities for extra-curricular activities provides pupils with many options to make the most out of their skills and interests. In the Shell Years 3 and 4, pupils get to engage in crafts, chess, cooking and golf. Additionally, they take part in numerous assemblies, dramatic productions and concerts, held throughout the academic year. [2]

Open Events for Bishop’s Stortford College 7 Plus (7+) Entry
The school is open for scheduled individual visits throughout the academic year. Alternatively, you can visit Bishop’s Stortford during their Open Mornings, typically held in the Autumn term.
These provide prospective families with the opportunity to visit the Prep School on a normal working day, during which they can take guided tours, hear an introductory talk from the Head of the Prep School and chat with current pupils, parents and key staff members. More details are available here.
Bishop’s Stortford College 7 Plus (7+) Admissions
The deadline for applications is in late November of the year preceding entry. The application form, which can be found here, should be submitted along with a non-refundable fee of £100.
7+ assessments take place in January, examining a wide range of skills in the online format. Offers are made in early February. To secure your child’s place, you will be asked to complete an Acceptance form and pay a refundable deposit.
