Birkenhead fosters intellectual curiosity, preparing students to have an impact in life through a broad and balanced curriculum that goes beyond statutory requirements. The use of IT is fully integrated into the model of teaching. The school’s Bring Your Own Device programme ensures that students have the ability to access resources via their own personal device (laptop or tablet).
PSHE is taught at Birkenhead with the aim to equip students with the knowledge and skills to understand and manage complex situations. The subject lessons are delivered by form teachers, the School Chaplain and the School Nurse.

In accordance with the extensive and ambitious extra-curricular programme, seniors regularly go on trips abroad. The most recent ones include visits to South Africa, France, the NASA HQ in Houston, Texas and CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research.
The school takes its responsibility to educate very seriously. Considerable staff time is therefore invested in the Beyond the Curriculum programme which covers a wide range of topics including Public Speaking, Active Listening, First Impressions, Etiquette, Charity, the Environment and Cookery.
Besides maintaining a lively community that fosters a happy and caring environment for the personal and academic growth of its students, Birkenhead School aims to ensure that students partake in activities that make a difference to the local community as well.
