Introduction
Alderley Edge School for Girls is an independent day school for girls based in Alderley Edge, Cheshire. Founded in 1999 following the merger of Mount Carmel and St Hilary’s, the school combines the Catholic traditions of the Order of St Joseph and the Anglican heritage of the Woodard Corporation.
Besides the core subjects of mathematics, English and science, Year 7 girls study music, art, food, design technology and drama, along with MFL, history, geography and religion/philosophy.

Alderley Edge School for Girls 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
To apply for Year 7 entry, you should complete the application form and send it to the admissions office together with the administration fee of £75. A confidential current-school reference will be requested around this time.
Your daughter will then be invited to sit entrance examinations in January and attend an interview with the Head. Offers are accepted with a payment of a £300 deposit. Please note that you will also be asked to sign a contract.

The Alderley Edge School for Girls 11+ entrance examination consists of the following papers:

- Verbal Reasoning
The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
