Exam Papers Plus: Interview & Group Assessments Workshops

Written by Louise Lang

If your child is preparing for a school entrance exam for a place at an independent school, they are likely also to be facing an interview and group assessment.

It is easy to focus on the entrance exam rather than think about the interview and group assessment. However, the interview and group assessment are just as much part of the admissions process as the entrance exam because schools want to offer places to children who will be an asset to the school and make the most of all they have to offer. They can find out if your child will be a good fit by getting to know them better and seeing how they interact with their peers, hence the interview and group assessment.

To make life easier for you, we are pleased to announce that we will be running workshops to help your child prepare for their interview and group assessment. It will take the weight off your shoulders, knowing they can feel calm and confident about these aspects of the admissions process once they have completed one of our workshops.

We have one workshop for 7+ and 8+ entry combined: 7+ & 8+ Interview & Group Assessments Workshop.

We have another workshop for 11+ entry: 11+ Interview & Group Assessments Workshop.

Both workshops will take place in December 2024 in London, last for four hours and be led by experts.

The Key Benefits of Interview and Group Assessments

Attending one of our workshops will benefit your child in so many ways:

  • They will practice answering the types of questions they will be asked in their actual interview and will be given guidance about what the interviewer will be looking for.
  • They will receive expert advice about how to give a polished presentation and will feel so proud when they deliver their own short presentation.
  • They will participate in critical-thinking tasks, helping to develop their reasoning skills.
  • They will learn how to show that they are unique, fantastic and have a lot to offer.
  • They will spend an afternoon communicating with adults and peers they are unfamiliar with, just like they will in the interview and group assessment for their chosen school. This will make them realise it is nothing to worry about and they can handle it. In fact, they can do more than handle it — they can ace it!
  • They will have the chance to talk through any of their worries. Usually, worries are about the unknown. Once they understand the interview and group assessment process, they will grow in confidence and shed their concerns.

In addition to all these immediate benefits for your child, you will receive detailed feedback about how they got on. We will let you know which areas we recommend they focus on as their interview approaches. It’s an exciting opportunity that will enable your child to shine and feel confident about showing their best self to your chosen school.

Places are limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment. If you have any questions about our workshops, do not hesitate to contact us.

We want to take this opportunity to wish your child all the best on their assessment day.
