Dulwich College Junior School is an academically selective day school for boys in London. Striving to provide pupils with an appropriate academic challenge, the school offers a strong teaching provision.

Trips and educational visits are an integral part of the co-curricular programme, allowing boys to explore the world around them and develop intellectual curiosity. Destinations have included Hampton Court, The Cutty Sark and Maritime Museum, the Imperial War Museum and the Tate Modern.

Open Events for Dulwich College 9 Plus (9+) Entry
To see the Junior School at work and to discuss the details of the entry procedure, it is highly recommended that you and your son attend Open Events.
Parent Tours are held with the aim of providing families with the opportunity to take a tour of facilities led by the Head and ask questions of interest. Booking of spots is made through the Admissions Team.
Junior School Open Days, Open Mornings and Open Afternoons consist of a range of fun activities, including informal chats with key members of staff and presentations. Booking for these events is made using online forms which can be accessed through this page.
Later in the year, in November, the school holds Registered Parents Evening for parents of registered boys. The event includes speeches from the Head of the Junior School, the Master of the College and a Year 13 student, who began his Dulwich College career in the Junior School. Following the presentations, you will have the opportunity to ask questions of interest to your child.
Dulwich College 9 Plus (9+) Admissions
Entry into Year 5 is competitive, consisting of a two-stage examination process. The Stage 1 exam takes place in December and assesses boys through an online test.
Candidates who have shown sufficient promise in these assessments will be invited back in January for an individual interview, during which their Maths and English skills will also be tested.
Decisions on a boy’s suitability will be based on his examination results, his performance in the interview, his school report and his approach to learning and social skills, as demonstrated throughout a group activity.
Dulwich College Junior School 9 Plus (9+) Exam Format
The Stage 1 9+ exam at Dulwich College Junior School consists of:
- Online Reasoning test
The assessment will be age-standardised, comprising a variety of Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning questions.
Successful candidates will be invited to sit further examinations, taking place the following month.
The Stage 2 9+ exam at Dulwich College Junior School consists of:
- English
- Mathematics
The English exam examines comprehension and writing skills, including inference, punctuation and grammar, as well as the fluency of your child’s reading and oral skills.
The maths paper tests addition and subtraction of single digits, tens and units, and hundreds. In addition, boys should also show an understanding of fractions of shapes, be able to interpret simple bar graphs and solve a range of two and three-step mathematical problems.
