Introduction
Basic information: Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital (QEH) is an independent day school for boys in Clifton, Bristol. Established in 1586, it occupies a Grade II listed building and numerous cutting-edge facilities, including four ICT suites, a science block and 23 acres of playing fields. [1]
Curriculum: To stimulate intellectual curiosity, QEH offers a broad curriculum that features English, mathematics, ICT and humanities, among others. Children benefit from individualised support thanks to small class sizes and enthusiastic staff, who educate the cohort using modern and forward-looking teaching methods.
Co-curricular: After lessons, boys engage in numerous creative and physical pursuits, maximising their learning abilities in parallel with their all-round growth. Tennis, swimming, drama and Forest School are some of the school’s most prominent co-curricular features, aimed at ensuring pupils’ health, independence and resourcefulness as they explore their capacity, interests and passions. [2]
QEH’s ethos is centred on kindness, honesty, respect and patience, allowing children to mature into responsible and proactive citizens of the modern world. Failure is perceived as yet another route to success, hence boys are strongly encouraged to take on challenges and try new things in order to discover their distinctive and unique strengths.
