Introduction
Walhampton School is a co-ed preparatory school situated in Walhampton, near Lymington. Formed from the amalgamation of two schools, it caters for over 350 pupils and provides both day and boarding options. [1]
At the core of Walhampton’s educational offerings is a bespoke enrichment curriculum, aimed at boosting imagination and creativity as vital to the pursuit of knowledge. Also known as SPARK, the programme offers a wide array of opportunities to pupils, such as visits to local schools, conservation tasks, pottery and first aid.
In addition to this, the school has an extra-curricular programme that is a facilitator of practical skills, enabling children to thoroughly explore their strengths under the supervision of highly professional staff. Over 60 extra-curricular activities are on offer, ranging from sailing and riding to swimming and beekeeping, and all underpinning the fundamentally comprehensive educational experiences. [2]
Walhampton has been inspected by the ISI in previous years, who rated the school as ‘excellent’ across all areas. Students were described as happy, enthusiastic learners, who make the most of the broad offerings and the school’s strong focus on character development and academic excellence. [3]
By encouraging children to explore their interests and passions, Walhampton fosters a vibrant community where students develop at their own pace, rather than feeling pressured to meet unrealistic expectations. The school vigorously promotes involvement in society from an early age, resulting in well-rounded young individuals, who effectively engage with the world around them.
