Introduction

Dulwich College is an independent, day and boarding school for boys in Dulwich, London. Highly regarded for its excellent extracurricular offer in sports, music and drama, as well as being academically rigorous, it shares its main campus with the equally successful Junior School. [1]

In the Junior School, extensive pastoral care is at the heart of the educational philosophy. Supported by highly qualified staff, the system looks after all aspects of pupils’ development, allowing children to progress through the school with sound moral understanding and high levels of personal responsibility. Pupils also benefit from a rich range of facilities, including a 25-metre swimming pool, a cutting-edge sports centre, spacious DT rooms and a brand-new laboratory block, among others. Taking full advantage of the superb educational experience, boys embark on an adventurous journey of self-discovery, underpinned by a rich programme of educational visits, which have included destinations such as Hampton Court, the Imperial War Museum, the Tate Modern and Southwark Cathedral. Open Events for Dulwich College 7 Plus (7+) Entry

Parents of prospective pupils are strongly encouraged to visit the Dulwich campus together with their sons. Attending open events provides an excellent opportunity to see the Junior School at work and to discuss the details of the entry procedure. Dulwich College 7 Plus (7+) Admissions

Boys are normally registered between September and November of the year prior to entry, as the deadline is in early November. The registration form can be accessed through this page.

The admissions process includes a two-stage exam taking place in December and January, as well as an interview with a member of the Junior School staff. The interview is part of the Stage 2 exam, during which your child’s Maths and English skills will be assessed. There will also be a group activity, testing your child’s capacity for collaboration and creative thinking.

Please note that a confidential report from your son’s current school will be taken into consideration. Results will be made known in February and, if offered, a place is accepted with a payment of a non-refundable deposit.

Dulwich College 7 Plus (7+) Scholarships and Bursaries

Academic scholarships of between 10% and one-third of tuition fees are awarded automatically to top-performing boys entering Year 3 (7+). There is no need to make a formal, separate scholarship application. Further opportunities exist for boys to gain scholarships later in their college career, on entry to Year 7 (11+) or Year 9 (13+).

A limited number of means-tested bursaries are awarded annually to very able boys entering Year 3 (7+) where parents are unable to pay the full tuition fee. Applicants are considered on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination and interview.

Parents will be asked to complete a confidential statement of financial circumstances, which will be reviewed annually. If you are interested in applying for an entry bursary, you should indicate this on the registration form.
