Introduction
Wycombe Abbey is an independent boarding and day school for girls in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Consistently performing well above the national average, it was founded in 1896 and currently occupies a magnificent 69-hectare campus, including woods, gardens and a lake. [1]
In the Sixth Form, girls are encouraged to approach learning with grit, choosing from a selection of subject options that include languages, mathematics and humanities, among others. The school also provides an ambitious Learning Enhancement programme, aimed at supporting their education across the academic spectrum through one-to-one lessons and drop-in sessions. [2]
The wealth of co-curriculars further facilitates girls’ study, boosting their versatility as they explore their strengths and talents. School trips are organised regularly and have included exciting far-off destinations (such as Iceland and the US), allowing them to acquire a strong sense of independence and profound cultural awareness.
Loyal to its impressive heritage, Wycombe Abbey educates in accordance with the motto In Fide Vade (Go in faith), maximising the spiritual and moral dimension of the cohort’s character development. As the ethos is grounded in the pursuit of excellence, it perpetually encourages girls to take intellectual risks on their path to achieving academic and personal maturity.
