Introduction
The Godolphin and Latymer School is an independent girls’ day school in Hammersmith, West London. Formally founded in 1707, it comprises six houses, each named after influential women, known for their pioneering work in the areas of education, politics and activism. [1]
The educational provision in the Sixth Form is underpinned by diversity in both the academic and non-academic sense. Girls get to choose from the A-Level and International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes, and thus take pathways that best suit their learning style and career preferences.
Co-curricularly, they get to discover a plethora of new passions by joining existing clubs or forming new ones. One of the most popular features of the enrichment offering is the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, through which the school promotes volunteering in the local community and pursuing hobbies alongside physical recreation. [2]
Characterised by a modern ethos that’s rooted in innovation yet loyal to its rich heritage, Godolphin and Latymer aims to constantly change for the better. The school thus tailors its provision accordingly, educating in line with the motto Francha Leale Toge (Free and Loyal Art Thou) to secure the independence of thought, creative input and character development of each student on campus.
