Introduction

Shrewsbury School is an independent co-ed day and boarding school in Shropshire. Established in 1552, it boasts an impressively rich history and a very long list of notable alumni, featuring ambassadors, historians, neurologists, entrepreneurs, architects, authors and Victoria Cross recipients. [1]

Its students follow a forward-looking curriculum that successfully combines modern teaching with traditional values. Ranging from science and design to Classics and French, the provision is supported by experienced staff, including tutors who closely monitor the cohort’s academic progress.

The wealth of after-class activities maximises the quality of the education on offer. Choosing from Chinese, coding, Darwin Society, debating, STEM, DofE and a selection of further pursuits, students expand their abilities and develop self-discipline, accessing young adulthood with a wide span of interests and hobbies. [2]

Shrewsbury School organises trips to far-off destinations on a regular basis, enriching pupils’ cultural understanding and versatility as they embark on adventurous journeys. In recent years, Salopians have visited Guyana, Malawi and the WWI Battlefields, emerging stronger, brighter and happier from each of these thrilling expeditions. [3]
