Introduction

Rugby School is an independent, co-ed day and boarding school in Warwickshire. It was founded in 1567 as a free grammar school for local boys and is among the oldest independent schools in Britain. Birthplace of Rugby football, it has a long list of notable alumni including a UK Prime Minister and prominent poets, scientists, writers and soldiers.

The curriculum comprises sports, science, art, classics, design & technology, drama & theatre studies, English, economics & business, geography, graphic design, history, IT, photography, textile design, mathematics, MFL, music, PE, politics & IR, PSHE and philosophy & theology.

The school has many societies named after famous Old Rugbeians, including Professor William Bateson, who dubbed the new science of inheritance ‘Genetics’, and the acclaimed author of ‘Alice in Wonderland’, mathematician Charles Dodgson A.K.A. Lewis Caroll.

Rugby holds Ted talks each term, where Sixth Formers (and others) are encouraged to explore their interests and formulate their own thoughts in reference to a topic of choice, and then present new ideas, under time constraint, in a way that will pique the audience’s interest.

In line with the motto The Whole Person is the Whole Point, the school celebrates individual success without focusing on academic excellence solely. Rugby actively invests in instilling resilience in pupils by teaching them to be unafraid to fail, preparing them in that way for the fast-changing world outside the school gates.

How to Prepare for the Rugby School 13 Plus (13+) Exam

At Exam Papers Plus, we recommend that students follow a structured approach towards preparation for the 13+ entrance exam. Such an approach includes practice tests, which consist of thoroughly researched and up to date questions that reflect a competitive 13+ examination format.

By covering all the key skills and the range of question types your child will encounter in the actual test, our practice tests will help them get used to answering questions quickly and effectively.

More importantly, they will help identify any weaker areas that require additional work and attention. In this way, our practice tests will assist in boosting your child’s confidence.

Practice tests ensure that candidates find the preparation process easily manageable and less demanding, and help parents come up with a carefully thought-out revision plan for their child that focuses on studying ‘little and often’.

Every year, tens of thousands of students make use of our practice tests in order to gain an advantage over peers ahead of competitive and highly selective entrance exams.
