Introduction
Godolphin and Latymer School is an independent day school in Hammersmith, West London. It was founded in 1861 as a boys’ school and was re-established in 1905 as a school for girls. It operates a house system, comprising six houses named after affluent women who left their mark in the history of humankind. [1]
Academically, Godolphin and Latymer supports girls through a broad and relevant curriculum that covers a rich range of subject options, including Classics, Mandarin, science, mathematics and French. Expert staff provide a broad spectrum of opportunities for the development of a rounded academic ability, complementing the school’s research-informed approach to educating by constantly adapting to new methods of effective teaching.
Both parents and students love Godolphin and Latymer because of its extensive offering, particularly in the area of extracurriculars. Choosing from debating, French Cinema, philosophy, cooking, Astronomy Club and a wealth of other activities, girls develop skills in the broadest sense and discover interests that, quite often, have the potential to shape their futures. [2]
Due to the quality of the overall provision, girls grow in an understanding of their strengths as well as a profound awareness of global issues, such as safeguarding the planet’s ecosystem. Through trips and educational visits organised by the school, they enrich their aesthetic and cultural sensibility and embark on exciting adventures, typically including exotic destinations such as Borneo, Malaysia, Mozambique and Swaziland.
