Introduction
City of London School for Girls (CLSG) is an independent school in the Barbican in London. Founded in 1881 with the aim of providing girls with a broad and liberal education, it boasts an outstanding academic reputation and a long list of notable alumni. [1]
CLSG offers a varied and forward-looking curriculum, comprising core subjects such as English and mathematics, and specialist options including DT, computer science, MFL and art. As such, it enables students to make cogent decisions about their future directions, maximising the scope of their abilities alongside their capacity for critical thought.
To reduce the stress that often accompanies academic life, the school offers a plethora of co-curricular societies and clubs, ranging from robotics, debating and sustainability to chess, German Film Club and DofE. The rounded development at CLSG is further enhanced through community service pursuits in which girls eagerly participate, exploring the human dimension of modern life by helping those in need. [2] [3]
The school’s ethos is rooted in the 3 Rs: respect, responsibility and resourcefulness, producing intellectually and socially agile young women who engage in self-discovery with confidence. Fostering a culture of reflection, CLSG provides a learning environment like no other, featuring a both progressive and sophisticated approach towards learning, as well as an abundance of opportunities for exemplary academic and non-academic outcomes.
