Introduction
City of London Freemen’s School (CLFS) is a co-ed independent day and boarding school at Ashtead Park in Surrey. Founded in 1854, it is part of a family of top-performing London schools, together with CLS and CLSG. [1]
Academically, CLFS provides relevant education, offering a stimulating curriculum that covers mathematics, computing, languages, PSHE and humanities, among others. As a result, students access adulthood with the skills necessary to make informed decisions, choosing their future direction with confidence.
Pastorally, the school effectively caters for individual needs, balancing the often challenging in-class learning with extensive emotional support, provided to pupils in partnership with parents. The wealth of co-curricular activities further enhances CLFS’ broad offering, engaging children in everything from ballet, sketching and Jiu Jitsu to rugby, swimming and orchestra. [2] [3]
Freeman’s is home to a vibrant community of learners, who make the most out of the many opportunities for all-round growth and enjoy the process to the full. Taught to be courteous and flexible in the effort to understand the nature of life, students adapt to its changing circumstances with ease and apply the acquired knowledge accordingly.

City of London Freemen’s School 13 Plus (13+) Exam Format
The City of London Freemen’s School 13+ pretest entry examination consists of the following assessments:
- English

The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
The maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper will include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.

The standard entry 13+ exam tests skills in the same subject areas, but at a slightly more difficult, age-appropriate level.
