Introduction

Bedford Modern School 13 Plus (13+) Admissions
Registration for places is done using an online form and the fee of £125 is non-refundable. Besides this, the admissions process includes entrance assessments, an interview and a review of school references, obtained from your child’s current school.
The 13+ entrance examinations take place in January of the year preceding entry. Results are communicated in February, and, if a place is offered, you will be asked to accept it by the deadline in March. The acceptance deposit is £500.
Bedford Modern School 13 Plus (13+) Scholarships and Bursaries
At 13+, means-tested bursaries are awarded for excellence in the following areas:

- Sport
The amount of the award will depend on your family’s circumstances. In some instances, a bursary can cover full fees. To commence the application procedure, you should tick the appropriate box in the registration form.

Bedford Modern School 13 Plus (13+) Exam Format
The Bedford Modern School 13+ examination consists of the following assessments:
- English composition (essay)
- CEM Select (online)
The English paper examines writing skills, including spelling and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
The online test CEM Select examines your child’s skills in Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning and Numerical Reasoning.
