Introduction
Stroud High School (SHS) is a girls’ grammar school with academy status in Stroud, Gloucestershire. Founded in 1904, it has been rated as ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED. [1]
SHS provides girls with a rounded education, hence its curriculum is broad and balanced. Including a wide range of disciplines, such as art, English, computing, DT, drama, languages, humanities, mathematics, music, PE and science, the academic and non-academic provision ensures that girls are well-prepared for the next stages of their educational journey. Stroud High School In-Year Entry (12 Plus & 13 Plus) Admissions Information
The standard entry point at Stroud High School is via the 11 Plus. However, the school also accepts applications from pupils interested in In-Year (Late) Entry. To assess pupils for In-Year entry, Stroud High School administers tests in Mathematics and English.
The examinations will take place at a date set by the school. As part of the admissions process, the school will admit applicants who performed well in the tests, giving priority to:
- Students currently in Public Care;
- Students who have been in Public Care;
- Students from families entitled to Pupil Premium.

As part of the assessment process for late transfer entry, your child will be asked to complete papers in English and Mathematics.
- The English paper may examine both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation.
- The Maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper will include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
