Introduction
Mayfield Grammar School is a grammar school for girls located in Gravesend, Kent. Founded in 1914, the school occupies two sites, one of which is the ‘Isaac Newton Building’, mainly consisting of sports and technology facilities. [1]
Specialising in both Science and Languages, the school offers a rich curriculum, boosting girls’ skills and knowledge in the areas of English, media, drama, maths, computing, economics, science, MFL, geography, history, RE, government & politics, psychology, sociology and the creative arts.
After-class clubs and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award further enhance the learning experience, allowing girls to build strong foundations before they access higher education. From fundraising and volunteering for local charities to planning and attending trips in the UK and abroad, students at Mayfield Grammar get to explore the limitations of their own abilities while simultaneously discovering new interests and passions.
The most recent OFSTED inspection report for Mayfield Grammar rated the school as ‘Outstanding’ across all categories, which is the highest grade a school can achieve. Characterised by exceptionally high achievements and a caring and cohesive environment, Mayfield Grammar remains loyal to its tradition of effective teaching and exemplary behaviour in students, who keenly contribute to the school’s life, its community, and beyond. [2]
Mayfield Grammar School standard entry point is 11 Plus. However, the school also accepts applications from pupils interested in In-Year admissions (Late Entry). To assess pupils for late transfer, Mayfield Grammar School administers papers for English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Science.
