Introduction
Founded in 1959, Aylesbury High School (AHS) is an all-girls grammar school in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. It is selective on entry and educates around 1200 students. The academic and non-academic provision at AHS adheres to the motto “prepare, challenge, inspire”, allowing the school to consistently rank in the top 100 nationally (on the grounds of exam results). [1]
Aimed at boosting pupils’ academic confidence, AHS provides a wide-ranging curriculum that thoroughly covers mathematics, technology, social sciences and many other subject areas. Staff deliver meticulous teaching to inspire ambition and secure girls’ exemplary results, whatever their future endeavours may be.
Characterised by strong achievements in the field of performing arts, AHS regularly organises competitions, productions and concerts. In this way, the school maximises girls’ artistic sensibility, exposing them to numerous opportunities for creative expression and self-discovery. [2]
Students also actively participate in Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) pursuits, which enable personal and social development through team-building activities and community service. As part of the programme, girls work towards completing a series of challenges that enhance their all-round and intellectual versatility, preparing them for life’s complexities to the full.
