Introduction

Founded in 1931, Wirral Grammar School for Girls is an all-girls grammar based in Merseyside. Over 1,050 girls aged 11-18 attend this high-performing school, which has been rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in every department. [1]

All Year 7 places at Wirral Grammar School for Girls are allocated based on pupil performance in the 11+ exam, which follows the Quest Assessment exam format. Before applying for a place, it is suggested that you and your child visit the school at one of its open events, where you can ask questions about the admissions process and the educational provision.

Wirral Grammar is often oversubscribed. In such cases, it uses the following oversubscription criteria, giving priority to:

1. Girls in public care
2. Girls with a valid medical reason (doctor’s letter must be supplied)
3. Girls who are eligible for Free School Meals (up to 15 places)
4. Girls with a sister attending the school at the time of application
5. Girls with a parent who works at the school for a minimum of two years

Wirral Grammar School for Girls is one of four schools based in Wirral that follow a coordinated scheme for secondary school admissions.
