Introduction
Wimbledon High School is an independent day school for girls in Wimbledon, South West London. Since its conception in 1880, it has been an active member of the GDST network of schools, educating a number of notable authors, journalists, scientists and professors. [1]

The school hosts School Day Open Events, offering prospective families the opportunity to visit on a normal working day and see the school in action. Saturday Open Mornings are packed with activities, including tours of facilities led by current pupils.

Wimbledon High School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
Applications for Year 7 places open in April of the year preceding entry and close in early November. The registration fee is £150.
Subject to your daughter’s successful performance in the entrance examinations and interview, she may be offered a place (in February). The school hosts School Tours for all offer holders later the same month.
Please note that the offer should be accepted by the deadline in March. This includes a payment of a deposit, refunded during your daughter’s last term at the school.
Wimbledon High School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
Based on her performance in the entrance exam, your daughter may be considered for an Academic Scholarship, typically valued at 5-10% of fees. No separate application for this award is required.
Girls with an aptitude for music will be considered for a Music Scholarship, while those with an interest in sports will be considered for a Sports Scholarship. Please note that applications for these must be submitted by the deadline in early November (of Year 6). More details are available here.
Wimbledon High offers means-tested bursaries to families who struggle with paying the fees. The amount of these awards will depend on your financial circumstances and will be subject to annual review. A bursary may cover 100% of fees, although in some cases it can extend to 110%, covering costs for uniform, lunches, travel and other expenses.

Wimbledon High School 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format
The Stage 1 exam at Wimbledon High School covers:
- Verbal Reasoning
- Non-Verbal Reasoning
The Verbal Reasoning paper is designed to test and assess logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning paper measures the ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
Candidates who are successful in the Stage 1 exam will be invited back to the school to attend the Stage 2 exam or Creative Assessment Day. As part of the range of activities planned for this day, your daughter’s literacy and numeracy will be tested through short English and Maths assessments.
How to Prepare for the Wimbledon High School 11 Plus (11+) Exam
To successfully prepare your daughter for the Wimbledon High School 11+ entrance exam, we recommend using practice tests. Our resources fully reflect the actual 11+ exam by covering all the question types that could come up, whilst helping your daughter become familiar with the exam layout.
Coupled with a structured study plan, our practice tests will help you define any weak areas that require additional work at the earliest. They will also help you recognise your daughter’s strengths, resulting in a significant boost in her confidence in the lead up to the big day.
Furthermore, she will get used to answering questions quickly and effectively, under time pressure.

Pupils who are able to score 80%+ consistently in our Stage 1 Practice Tests should be on track to make it through to Stage 2.
Pupils who are able to score 85%+ consistently in our Stage 2 Practice Tests should be on track to pass the written assessments that form part of the school’s Creative Assessment Day.
Whilst there are no guarantees, this has historically been a fairly strong indicator that your child should do well in the Wimbledon High 11 Plus examinations.
Don’t worry if your child is not scoring well in our practice papers from the outset. With targeted practice and focus, it’s possible to make big improvements in a short amount of time!
