Introduction
Wellington School is a co-educational independent day and boarding school in Wellington, Somerset. Founded in 1837, the school first began admitting girls in 1972.
The Year 7 curriculum is taught in the following departments: Maths, Science, Modern Languages, English (including Individual Learning), Music, Art, Design & Technology and RS.
Wellington School fully invests in educating pupils beyond the classroom, hence it regularly organises trips to exciting destinations such as Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, Madrid, Berlin, Dubai, Barbados, the Netherlands, Rome, Florence, Tuscany, Bordeaux, Barcelona, Nice and Venice.

Open Events for Wellington School 11 Plus (11+) Entry
The school holds Whole School Open Days twice each year, offering families an opportunity to see the school in action. The events include pupil-led tours, meeting staff and taking part in fun activities. Booking can be made via an online form.

Wellington School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
To apply for Year 7 entry on behalf of your child, you should register them by the deadline in December (of Year 6) using a registration form that’s available from the Registrar. Please note that the registration fee of £100 is non-returnable.
Once registered, your child will need to submit a short piece of writing to describe themselves and their interests. Later in the admissions process, they will take part in some group assessments, an entrance examination and interview. The school will also request a reference and reports from their current school.
Based on strong performance in the various elements of the admissions process, your child may receive a written offer of admission, which should be accepted by the deadline stated in the document. Acceptance includes a payment of a £400 deposit, to be refunded on the settlement of the final term’s account when your child leaves the school.
Wellington School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
At 11+, the school offers Academic, Art & Design, Drama, Performing Arts, Music and Sport Scholarships and Awards. They are awarded to top-performing pupils who demonstrate outstanding ability and/or potential and a capacity to make a strong contribution to life at Wellington School. The value of scholarships is typically between 5% and 20% of the fees.
Note that your child must be registered with Wellington School in order for your scholarship application to be considered. Furthermore, an appropriate application must be made before the relevant deadline.
The selection process requires that you provide a copy of their latest school report and copies of any certificates that are relevant to the application. Scholarships and Awards are awarded on the basis of your child’s performance in the examination/assessment/interview and the supporting documentation.
If you need financial assistance with paying the fees, you can apply for a means-tested bursary. Bursaries are reviewed annually. Levels of support may vary depending on changes in your financial circumstances. For more information, please refer to the Registrar.
