Introduction
The Marist School, located in Ascot since 1947, is an independent Catholic school for girls aged 2-18 (boys are accepted into the Nursery only and that is if they are the sibling of a current pupil or the son of a member of staff or Marist alumni). The school was founded in 1870 in Richmond by a group of Marist sisters. Today, it is under the stewardship of Concept Education but its core values have remained the same.
Academically, The Marist School is superb. In 2023, a staggering 54% of GCSE grades were in the 9-7 range, and 100% of the school’s leavers secured their choice of university. All pupils are helped to reach their full academic potential through the Aim Higher Programme and the commitment of dedicated teachers.
Co-curricular provision at The Marist School is extensive, with the school believing that life outside of the classroom should offer pupils plenty of opportunities to have fun, build confidence, develop teamwork skills and discover new talents. Current clubs on offer include Fashion Club, Problem Solvers Club, Spanish Club and Mystery History Club.
Pupil wellbeing is a priority at the school. All students get to know each other well, which creates a friendly family atmosphere in which girls thrive. Emphasis is placed on the importance of kindness and responsibility.
The Marist School: Admissions Process for 11 Plus (11+)/Year 7 Entry
Visiting the school is a great way to find out more about it. You can arrange to have an individual tour of the school so that you can appreciate first-hand its remarkable facilities and stunning grounds. You can also attend an Open Evening in the Autumn term or an Open Morning in the Spring term.
The next step is to register your daughter. This involves completing the online form and paying the £100 non-refundable registration fee (£150 for overseas applicants).
It is recommended that you register your daughter before the Taster Day in mid-June of Year 5 because she will then be automatically invited to attend the Taster Day, giving her the chance to experience what life is like at The Marist School.
Over the summer holidays, before starting Year 6, your daughter will be asked to complete a project entitled ‘All About Me’, which is known as a Marist Passport.
In November of Year 6, your daughter will attend Assessment Day at The Marist School. She will be asked to take her Marist Passport with her. The day will also involve the following:
- Taking a maths paper
- Taking an English paper
- Sitting online GL Assessment verbal and non-verbal reasoning tests
- A 1:1 interview with a member of the senior staff
- A group interview with the Principal
- Participating in an interactive activity
Offers will be made in December of Year 6 and need to be accepted by the deadline in March of Year 6. An acceptance deposit of £1,000 will need to be paid. £500 of this deposit will be deducted from the first term’s fees, and the remainder will be refunded when your daughter has completed her last term at the school.

Preparing for The Marist School 11 Plus (11+)/Year 7 Entrance Assessments
At Exam Papers Plus, we recommend that your child spends time preparing for the Year 7 entrance assessments because, as Alexander Graham Bell said, ‘Before anything else, preparation is the key to success.’
Sometimes, it can be hard to know where to start but our resources will enable your daughter to devise a structured study plan, as she can plan her sessions around working her way through our recommended resources.
As she works her way through them, she will be able to identify any weak areas she has and spend more time on those areas.
Additionally, she will become familiar with the types of questions she will face on Assessment Day, meaning she can approach the day feeling confident that there will be no unpleasant surprises.
The practice and knowledge the resources will give her will mean she will be in a strong position to perform well in the actual assessments.
