All Year 7 places at Stratford Girls’ Grammar School will be allocated on the basis of pupil performance in the eleven plus exam.
Prior to applying for a place, it is suggested that prospective families visit the school during its June Open Day. At this event, you will have the chance to ask questions about the admissions process and your daughter will have the unique opportunity to explore facilities and meet key teaching staff members.
Stratford Girls is consistently oversubscribed and receives more Year 7 applications than there are available places. In such instances, the following oversubscription criteria are used, giving priority to:
- Looked After, or previously Looked After, children who either achieve the qualifying score or above, or who score up to twenty marks below the automatic qualifying score
- Children who live in the priority area, are eligible for the Pupil Premium and achieve the automatic qualifying score or above
- Children who live in the priority area and achieve the automatic qualifying score or above
- Children who live outside the priority area who achieve the automatic qualifying score or above
- Children who score below the automatic qualifying score, but above the minimum score for the waiting list.

How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to Stratford Girls’ Grammar School
As part of the West Midlands Grammar School Consortium, Stratford Girls’ Grammar commences its admission process in May. All applications must be submitted through the consortium’s registration portal by the June cut-off date.
Furthermore, it’s important to remember to apply to your Local Authority (LA). The LA Preference Form requires you to indicate your schools of interest. Not including Stratford Girls’ Grammar in this list might exclude your child from being eligible for admission there.
You will receive your child’s 11+ admission results in October. Formal offers are made in March of the following year.

Stratford Girls’ Grammar School 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format
The Stratford Girls’ Grammar School 11 Plus exam consists of two test papers, each lasting approximately 60 minutes. They cover:
- English Comprehension
- Verbal Reasoning
- Mathematics
- Non-Verbal + Spatial Reasoning
The weightings for the test results are 50% for English/verbal reasoning, 25% for non-verbal reasoning and 25% for mathematics.
The English Comprehension paper examines comprehension skills, including inference. There will be no writing component.
The Verbal Reasoning section of the exam assesses logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.
The maths paper measures problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills, including questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
The exam will also cover Non-Verbal Reasoning or Spatial Reasoning, both testing logic and intelligence.
Results from the Stratford Girls’ Grammar School 11 Plus will be available to parents online in October, with final Year 7 place allocations published in March the following year.
