Introduction

 

St Nicholas’ School is an independent day school for girls in Church Crookham, a village in Hampshire. Founded in 1935, the school moved to its present site in 1996, occupying a site of over 30 acres. [1]

 

The curriculum covers English, maths, science, computer science, MFL, geography, RS, classics & Latin, Mandarin, textiles, art, drama and PSHE.

 

Whilst offering a vigorous academic education, the school heavily invests in catering for students’ extracurricular interests. Ranging from MUN, Choir and STEM to the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, Drama and Debating, St Nicholas’ rich programme of afterclass activities aims to further boost the academic, personal and physical development of each pupil.

If you wish your daughter to be considered for Year 7 entry, you should complete the registration form available on this page and pay the £100 registration fee. The entrance examinations are a combination of written and online tests, sat in January of the calendar year of entry.

 

Based on your daughter’s performance in the entrance examinations and interview, she may be offered a place, which is to be accepted with a payment of a refundable deposit of £500. The deadline for this will be indicated in the offer letter. 

 

St Nicholas’ School, Fleet, 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries

 

The school offers Academic, Music, Sport, Art and Drama Scholarships to Year 7 applicants. These are worth up to 20% of the school fees.

 

Academic Scholarships are awarded to top-performing candidates in the entrance examinations following a formal interview with members of senior staff. Specialist scholarships are offered on the basis of entrance exam results and performance in further interviews and auditions/trials. For some of these, the school will request portfolios. 

 

Means-tested bursaries are also available at 11+ entry. They are awarded following a thorough evaluation of your household’s financial circumstances. Your daughter can apply for both a bursary and a scholarship. Application forms can be obtained from the Bursar.

The St Nicholas’ School 11+ exam consists of the following assessments:

 

• Cambridge Select Insight
• English paper (essay)

 

Cambridge Select Insight assesses Verbal, Non-Verbal and Numerical Ability through a series of short, online modules. 

 

The English writing paper examines writing skills. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
