Introduction
St George’s School Edgbaston is a co-educational, independent day school in Edgbaston, Birmingham. Occupying a 6 acre site, St George’s was founded in 1999 as a result of the merger of two schools: Edgbaston Church of England College for Girls and Edgbaston College Preparatory School.
St George’s School secures its individualised approach towards pupils by having small class sizes and a warm, family-like environment where the Headmaster operates an ‘Open Door’ policy.
The school is diverse, nurturing a multi-cultural heritage while representing numerous faiths and providing an insight into all of them.
To engage pupils in a variety of activities, it offers them a broad extra-curricular programme, comprising a variety of clubs and opportunities, including the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, golf, skiing, debating group and tennis.
Additionally, St George’s encourages fundraising initiatives and supports numerous charities such as Comic Relief, Sports Relief and Macmillan Cancer Support, allowing students to fully grasp the importance of practicing altruism.
The school’s enthusiastic and caring staff are committed to inclusion, enabling children with dyslexia and autism to thrive, achieving the same or better results than many of their peers in public examinations.
Encouraging academic achievements alongside extensive pastoral care, St George’s provides an educational journey that aims to satisfy the demands in the world of work, enabling children to respond positively to the challenges ahead.
