Introduction
St. Edmund’s College is a coeducational independent day and boarding school in Ware, Hertfordshire. Set in 440 acres, it operates in line with the British public school tradition and is the oldest continuously operating post-Reformation Catholic school in the UK.
In Year 7, the curriculum falls into the following categories: English, Mathematics, Science, Modern Foreign Languages and Humanities, complemented by Computer Science.

The school hosts Open Mornings in the Spring and Autumn Terms, allowing families to get a feel for life on campus and meet key members of staff. To register your attendance, you should fill in the online form available on the school’s website.

St. Edmund’s College 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
After visiting the school, you may wish to register your child for Year 7 entry. The online registration form should be completed and submitted together with a payment of a non-refundable fee. Scholarship application forms are available on the website, while bursary application packs can be obtained from the Admissions Office.
Throughout the admissions process, the school will take into consideration your child’s performance in the online entrance test and interview (with the Head or senior member of academic staff), as well as the quality of their current-school report. An original birth certificate or passport will also be requested.
If entry criteria are met, your child will receive an offer of a place, to be accepted in writing and accompanied by a payment of a deposit. This will be refunded to you at the end of your child’s career at St. Edmund’s College.
St. Edmund’s College 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
The Douay Academic Scholarship is awarded on the basis of performance in the entrance examination. The Old Hall Academic Scholarship, available to Catholic students who are currently in a Catholic school, is also awarded on the basis of performance in the entrance examination. All Rounder Scholarships, Art Scholarships, Music Scholarships and Sport Scholarships are available, as well.
St. Edmund’s College offers a limited number of means-tested bursaries for Year 7 applicants, covering up to 100% of the fees. If you wish to apply for a bursary, you will be asked to complete a Confidential Statement of Financial Circumstances form and return it to the Bursar with supplementary documentation.
