Introduction

St Catherine’s School is an independent day school for girls in Twickenham, London. Located beside the River Thames, the school caters for 440 pupils, with nearly one-third of them being members of minority ethnic groups. [1]

Senior girls study English, mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, MFL, religious education, geography, history, music, drama, art, food & nutrition, physical education, computer science and PSHE. To further develop skills and learn more about competition and teamwork, the school provides them with an extensive extra-curricular programme.

Depending on their interests, girls can engage in fitness, swimming, LAMDA, debating, photography, MUN (Model United Nations) and many other opportunities.

Active learning outside of the classroom also includes overseas trips to destinations such as Peru, Vietnam, France and Spain.

St Catherine’s School, Twickenham, 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

Entry to Year 7 is on the basis of performance in the December entrance examinations and informal interview with the Head. The quality of current-school reports and references will also be taken into consideration.

The deadline for registration is in November of the year preceding entry. Offer letters are sent out in February and places are to be accepted by the deadline in March with a payment of a £1,000 deposit.

St Catherine’s School, Twickenham, 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries

At 11+, St Catherine’s offers Academic, Art, Drama, Music and Sports Scholarships. Academic scholarships are awarded on the basis of performance in the entrance examinations.

Art scholarship candidates are awarded on the grounds of skill, an interview and reference from the candidate’s current art teacher. Drama scholarships are awarded to candidates with previous participation in drama productions/activities either in school or outside.

Music scholarships are offered to candidates who are of (at least) Grade 4 standard on one or more instruments at the time of application. A reference from their current instrumental/vocal teacher will be obtained.

Sports scholarship applicants will be assessed during the Sports Scholarship Performance Session. A report from their current coach and teacher will also be considered.
