St Catherine’s, Bramley, 11 Plus (11+) Entrance Exam Information 2026

Introduction

St Catherine’s School is an independent girls’ school in the village of Bramley, near Guildford, Surrey. It was founded in 1885 and its patron is Camilla, Queen Consort of the UK. [1]

Pupils study art, biology, chemistry, design technology, drama, English, French, geography, German, history, home economics, Latin, mathematics, music, physical education, physics, religious studies, Spanish, textiles, ICT and computing. After classes, they get to choose from a wide selection of activities, clubs and societies on offer, including LAMDA, Music Theory, Mandarin and Model United Nations.

Providing an all-round education within a safe and healthy environment and first-class facilities, the school ensures the personal and physical development of pupils while boosting their academic potential. As they actively prepare to enter adulthood and face all of its complexities, girls at St Catherine’s grow in character and maximise their talents and abilities, demonstrated freely both in and out of the classroom.

St Catherine’s, Bramley, 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

The admissions process begins with registration. You will be asked to submit a completed form along with a payment of a £150 non-refundable registration fee prior to the deadline in October of the year preceding entry. 

Upon registering, your daughter will be invited to attend Taster Morning. The entrance examinations for 11+ entry take place in November of Year 6. There may also be an interview. 

Offer letters are sent out later the same month and the acceptance deadline is in early March. To secure your child’s place, you will be asked to pay a deposit: £500 for day pupils and £1,000 for boarders.

St Catherine’s, Bramley, 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries

The school awards four Academic Entrance Scholarships on the basis of performance in the entrance examinations. Two scholarships are valued at 20% of the fees, and the other two at 10%. 

There is one Music Scholarship, valued at 20% of the fees and tuition on one instrument, and another one of 10% of fees and tuition on one instrument. The deadline for applications is in November and auditions are in January.  

Bursaries are means-tested and offered to girls from low-income families who show interest in receiving financial support from the school. However, candidates will still be expected to show a certain level of academic ability, assessed through the entrance examinations.
