Introduction

 

Founded in 1876, South Hampstead High School is an independent day school for girls, situated in north west London. The school educates approximately 900 girls aged 4-18 and is one of the UK’s most successful schools.

South Hampstead High School 11 Plus Admissions Criteria

 

South Hampstead High School is part of the London Consortium alongside a number of other independent schools, hence each school administers the same entrance test. South Hampstead High School also adheres to the Consortium’s Agreed Code of Practice.

 

Admission to South Hampstead High School isn’t determined by test results alone. Your daughter must also attend an interview at the school in January. This interview is an important part of the school’s selection process and aims to identify whether a pupil will thrive in the new environment. Places are then offered on the basis of her performance in the entrance exam and interview, as well as the reference from her current school.

 

How to Apply for 11 Plus Entry to South Hampstead High School

 

Before applying for a place at South Hampstead High School, parents and students are encouraged to attend one of the school’s Open Events. At these events, families can take a tour of facilities and attend a talk from the Head. Places are booked through the school’s website.

 

To register your daughter for the assessments, you should complete this online form by the deadline in November. The fee of £150 is non-refundable. The London Consortium schools use a bespoke online test that consists of two parts and assesses a wide span of abilities.

 

Part 1 covers Mathematics, Non-Verbal Reasoning, English and Verbal Reasoning, while Part 2 consists of problem-solving and analysis exercises. The South Hampstead High School exam will not include a written component.
