Sale Grammar School is part of the Trafford Grammar Schools Consortium. All schools within the Consortium use the same 11+ test, and admission to Sale Grammar School is determined by pupil performance in this 11 Plus exam.

Sale Grammar offers 190 places in Year 7 and always encourages prospective families to attend Open Evening, held in July. This event will give you a better idea of whether a grammar school education is the right learning environment for your child.

Sale Grammar School is consistently oversubscribed for Year 7 places, so it uses certain oversubscription criteria, giving priority to looked after children or previously looked after children, followed by recipients of Pupils Premium.

How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to Sale Grammar School

To apply for a place at Sale Grammar on behalf of your child, you must register them for the school’s entrance examination. A link to the registration form will be available on the school’s admissions page from early May until mid-June. Further information about registration can be obtained from all primary schools in the catchment area.

In addition to completing the registration form, you also need to complete a Local Authority Common Application Form (CAF) before the October deadline. Sale Grammar School should be listed on the form in ranked order of preference.
