Introduction

 

Prior’s Field is an independent boarding and day school for girls in Guildford, Surrey. Spread over 42 acres of parkland, the school was recently rated ‘Excellent’ across all categories in its ISI inspection.

 

Girls benefit from a broad curriculum, comprising English, maths, science, MFL, Latin, history, geography, RS, design technology, food, textiles, art, music, drama, PE, IT and PSHCE. After classes, they have the opportunity to take part in activities from over 45 co-curricular clubs, including yoga, trampolining, juggling, fun experiments and debating.

 

Prior Field’s ethos is focused on ensuring that girls are happy and well, based on the school’s philosophy that girls can only succeed if they are content and fulfilled. Prior’s Field hosts Open Mornings three times a year, allowing you and your daughter to experience the school’s atmosphere and meet current pupils and staff members. Prior’s Field School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

  

To register your daughter for a place in Year 7, you will be asked to submit a completed registration form and pay a £125 non-refundable fee prior to the deadline in October of the year preceding entry.

 

She will then be invited to attend Preview Day (in November), during which she will take part in various activities and attend an interview. Entrance examinations are held in December.

 

Following success in the interview and exams and subject to a quality reference and report from her current school, your daughter may receive an offer. Please note that acceptance includes a payment of a £500 fee.

 

Prior’s Field School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries

 

At 11+, the school offers Academic, Art, Sports, Music and Drama Scholarships. Academic scholarships are awarded to Year 7 applicants who excel in the entrance examinations. A further interview may also take place. All scholarships typically carry a 5-20% fee remission and may include extra-curricular tuition.

 

The school also offers Sibling discounts and Armed Forces Discount, the latter of which is valued at 20% of boarding fees. Means-tested bursaries, available to girls from low-income families, are valued at up to 95% of day fees. Reviewed each year, this type of financial support may vary, depending on changes in your financial circumstances. 

 

Prior’s Field 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format

 

The Prior’s Field 11+ exam consists of the following papers:

 

• English
• Mathematics
• Non-Verbal Reasoning

 

The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.

 

The maths exam assesses your daughter’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper may include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.

 

The Non-Verbal Reasoning paper measures her ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
