Introduction

Newcastle High School for Girls is an independent day school for girls in Newcastle upon Tyne. Formed in 2014 by the merger of Central Newcastle High School and Newcastle upon Tyne Church High School, NHSG is operated by the Girls’ Day School Trust.

In Year 7, girls study a wide range of subjects, including art, dance, drama, Latin, geography, history, MFL, English, mathematics and science. The school also offers a unique cross-curricular subject called Deep Learning Enquiry.

The extensive co-curricular programme includes day trips to museums, galleries, theatres, universities and other GDST schools, along with cross-border journeys to destinations such as Iceland, The Galapagos Islands, France, Germany, the US, Kenya, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.

NHSG’s creative and intellectually challenging environment enables girls to thrive on all levels whilst benefiting from a broad range of opportunities. The school encourages them to become leaders who will contribute positively to the world and ensures that they mature into confident, respectful, courageous and caring young women with an awareness of their social responsibilities.
