Introduction
Leicester Grammar School (LGS) is an independent co-educational day school for pupils aged 10–18. It is one of three schools in the Leicester Grammar School Trust, along with Leicester Grammar Junior School (ages 3–11) and Stoneygate School (ages 4–16).
LGS is a relatively new school, having been founded in 1981. It has occupied its current site, which it shares with the Junior School, since 2008. The campus is located in the village of Great Glen, just outside the city of Leicester, and the purpose-built premises are clean, modern and well-equipped, including state-of the-art facilities for sport, music and arts.
The school has a reputation for excellence in sport, with over fifty teams representing the school in the mainstream sports alone. Its cutting-edge sports facilities, which include extensive playing fields (75 acres), all-weather pitches and a swimming pool, are of such a high standard that the school is often used as a training centre by international teams visiting the UK for major events.
The school offers a traditional curriculum and uses attainment tests throughout the year, plus whole school end-of-year exams, to monitor the progress of all pupils. Pupils at the school consistently perform well in their GCSEs with 98% of all results being in the A*–C (9–4) range in recent years.

The LGS entrance exam takes place in early January of the calendar year of entry and consists of paper-based and online assessments. In the following week, successful candidates will be invited to the school to attend an interview.
