Introduction
Established in 1877, Kendrick School is a renowned girls’ school located in Berkshire. Initially founded as a girls’ institution by Eliza Jane Kendrick, it has evolved into one of the most respected educational establishments in this area. The school occupies a striking red-brick Victorian edifice, symbolising its rich heritage, while being conveniently located near the town centre with excellent transportation connections and local facilities.
Kendrick School offers a comprehensive and well-structured PSHCE program for all students. The curriculum is integrated into the tutor/PSHCE system and facilitated by the tutors. In advanced grade levels, specialised instructors teach PSHCE as a standalone subject. The syllabus aims to prepare students for their roles as responsible citizens. [1]
Additionally, students receive career guidance and participate in a unified work experience program as part of its work-related and entrepreneurial curriculum. At Kendrick School, each student has access to the entire national curriculum, religious studies, citizenship, and PSHCE.
As a grammar school, Kendrick offers a variety of key subjects, encompassing English literature, an extra modern foreign language, Latin, and religious studies, with the chance to study these subjects up to public examination level.
Kendrick School takes pride in a remarkable percentage of top grades at GCSE and A-level. In 2022, 83% of GCSE grades were 9 or 8, and 75% of A-level grades were A* or A. The school has earned numerous distinctions and awards, demonstrating its dedication to providing an exceptional education for its students. [2]

How to Prepare for the Kendrick School 11 Plus (11+) Exam?
If Kendrick School is your child’s first choice, they might feel undue pressure to perform well in the 11+ exam. However, by learning how to study for the 11 Plus exam, your daughter should be able to approach the exam with confidence.
In Year 6, most children can only maintain their concentration for half an hour at a time, so approach 11+ revision sessions realistically. After a day at school, revision is likely to be the last thing on your daughter’s mind, so split study sessions into short, manageable blocks.
The Kendrick School entrance exams place a large emphasis on reasoning; if your daughter struggles with this skill (and many children do), read the following articles on how to improve her performance:
If your daughter encounters problems with time management, introduce practice exam papers into her study routine. Not only will they give her a better idea of how quickly questions should be answered in the allotted time, but you will also be able to monitor your child’s progress closely, as immediate feedback is provided for each paper.
