Highclare School 11 Plus (11+) Entrance Exam Information 2026

Introduction

Highclare School is an independent, co-educational day school in the West Midlands. Founded in 1932, the school occupies three sites in the Birmingham area.

The Year 7 curriculum covers art, design technology, drama, English, MFL, geography, food & nutrition, history, ICT & computing, mathematics, music, physical education, PSCHE, science and religious studies.

Within the extracurricular programme, the school offers a number of activities and clubs, such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Athletics Club, Gardening Club, Public Speaking, Film Club, Debating Club, Hockey, Photography Club and Chess.

Highclare School centres its ethos on providing an all-round education and encouraging individual talents, whilst ensuring that its teaching meets the needs of individual pupils. Nurturing students’ academic, emotional and spiritual intelligence, the school enables them to develop self-confidence and fully equips them for life beyond school.

Highclare School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

Year 7 entry is subject to results in the entrance assessments, held in November, and an interview with the Head of Senior School. Please note that the quality of the report and reference from your child’s current school will also be considered.

The registration fee of £85 is non-refundable. To secure your child’s place at the school, you will be expected to pay a deposit of £350, which will be refunded in their final term.

Highclare School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries

Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the Head on the basis of performance in assessments/auditions and interview, as well as a satisfactory reference from your child’s current school. Application forms for these are provided by the admissions team upon request.

The school awards Academic scholarships to pupils who perform exceptionally well in the 11+ entrance assessment and who demonstrate a potential to contribute to the school community.  The school also rewards pupils who excel in the fields of music, sport or art. 

The Highclare School Governors’ Prize is a means-tested bursary award which covers up to 100% of school fees and rewards a child who demonstrates outstanding academic potential. The HSGP will be valid for the duration of your child’s education in the Senior School.

How to Prepare for the Highclare School 11 Plus (11+) Exam
