Introduction
Hampton School is an independent day school for boys in Hampton, Greater London. Founded in 1557, it features a long alumni list, including authors, professional athletes, entrepreneurs, surgeons and Olympic gold winners. [1]
Noted for its balanced and intellectually stimulating education, Hampton provides pupils with a relevant curriculum which includes everything from DT, computing and music to languages, mathematics and science. The sporting provision is fundamental to both curricular and extracurricular learning, allowing boys to maximise their physical versatility through pursuits such as football, rowing, athletics, swimming, sailing and windsurfing.
Beyond the classroom, they also benefit from an extensive provision of club activities, typically ranging from beekeeping, chess and robotics to filmmaking, philosophy and drama. To familiarise boys with professionals from all walks of life and assist them in choosing an employment direction, Hampton offers the Talk! programme, through which it has welcomed a number of esteemed Old Hamptonians. [2] [3]
The school’s outstanding pastoral ethos is supported by experienced staff who are actively invested in facilitating the moral and social development of pupils. Lessons for PSHE are delivered to boost this aspect of the educational offering and help children make informed decisions about their actions and choices, ensuring that they reject all types of prejudice while growing in awareness about the consequences of harmful behaviour. [4]
The community spirit at Hampton is characterised by unpretentiousness, allowing students to fully utilise all available benefits and achieve strong outcomes while acknowledging the successes of peers. A place where characters develop at a fast pace and where collaborative relationships flourish, the school is widely recognised for the warm, friendly and inclusive ethos which grounds pupils in intellectual enquiry and high moral standards.

Music and Choral Scholarships are awarded following an audition, while Sports Scholarships are offered to applicants who excel in a practical assessment and interview. Performing Arts Scholarship applicants will be asked to perform a monologue. There will also be an interview with the Head of Drama. More details about these awards can be found here.
Families who cannot afford to pay the school fees due to financial circumstances can apply for a means-tested bursary. This award can partially or fully cover the worth of annual fees, depending on the level of financial need.
The school offers free places, also known as Fitzwygram Scholarships, providing additional support for trips, uniform and extracurriculars, as well. To be considered, boys must meet the school’s academic criteria by passing the entrance exams.
Bursaries are reviewed annually, thus you will be asked to update your financial information, based on which the value of the award may increase/decrease.
